DNV GL - Energy is seeking a Business Intelligence Consultant to join our team. As a BI Consultant, you will join a team of problem solvers that is leveraging and scaling Big Data analytic capabilities to turn our clients’ data into knowledge. We are seeking a consultant with proven experience working with clients to understand their data challenges and developing technical solutions utilizing the Microsoft Azure suite of products. Working in our Portland, Maine office alongside approximately 15 passionate energy data enthusiasts, you will also work closely with team members throughout the United States and Europe.

 

Tasks May Include

  • Interface with clients to extract and define requirements, and offer solutions for business challenges
  • Interpret client’s problems to be solved and convert into value-added data-oriented solution opportunities
  • Champion and translate data-backed insights to business-actionable narratives and opportunities for further customer insight
  • Serve as a conduit between your business colleagues and development team, creating the technical solutions to optimize data value
  • Contribute to the design, development, operations, and support of solutions and applications deployed using Azure analytics tools (e.g. Azure SQL, Databricks / Spark, Data Factory, Data Lake Storage and Analytics, Data Warehouse, Cosmos DB, Azure Functions)
  • Develop, operate and document data ingest pipelines, web applications, visualization applications, data governance, data catalogues
  • Contribute to development efforts and advise the team performing data transformations and analytics using Python, Scala, C#, SQL, enhancing and tuning a Modern Data Warehouse and Data Lake in Microsoft Azure
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, implement scalable, tunable SaaS based solutions, and provide ongoing maintenance and support

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or relevant analytic subject area and a strong scientific or engineering background required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience with Azure analytics tools listed above; with fundamental programming skills in structured and open source tools
  • At least 2 years of progressively increasing managerial and/ or project management experience
  • Proven experience engaging with technical and non-technical clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders to understand business challenges and propose data analytics-based solutions
  • Experience building positive, collaborative relationships with colleague across locations, cultures, and technical experience levels
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively to complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines
