MOUNTAIN, LTD. has an opening for ISP Engineer in the Portland, ME area.  Since 1979, MOUNTAIN, LTD. has successfully created and supported turnkey engineering solutions for traditional and wireless telecom providers across the United States. We are a national leader in the industry, providing high-quality engineering, on-time service delivery, and skilled personnel paired with innovative technology and creative solutions. Specialties include OSP/ISP engineering, design, permitting, right-of-way and CAD for traditional and wireless telecommunications companies. 

The ISP Engineer is responsible for projects and tasks related to the transport and central office engineering.  Will also be responsible for design, and planning for maintenance, improvements, capacity and upgrades for the relevant systems.    

 Minimum of five years of relevant technical experience.   

Rural and competitive telephone operations and subscriber services knowledge. 
Central office installation, maintenance, and repair work Managing and installing DC power systems Managing and installing SONET network systems 
Managing and installing DSL and Fiber Access equipment Experience with DWDM, OTN, and Carrier Ethernet technologies Design, planning, documentation and maintenance of fiber and coaxial plant 
Working knowledge of Ethernet, IP, FTTx, ATM, xDSL, T1/T3 or GR-303 required
Understanding of various engineering practices and procedures required. Optical network installation and implementation experience required. Knowledge of current architectures being deployed Metro Ethernet, GPON, DWDM  Adtran/Calix access and transport systems a plus
Performing central office installation and repair work. Work with customers with complex services, troubleshooting, and interoperability testing. 
On call rotation Must be able to work off shift hours.  

Education:     2 or 4 year technical degree preferred, high school diploma required.
