TechHire Maine Offering Incumbent Worker Training Grants

AUGUSTA– TechHire Maine, a $4 million workforce development project managed by Coastal Counties Workforce Inc., is offering training funds to support Maine companies in upskilling their information technology (IT) workforce. There are 60 individual employee slots for incumbent worker training. This is a statewide initiative open to any employer located in Maine!

The goal of TechHire Maine is to provide businesses with the resources to invest in Maine’s workforce, improve IT employee skills, and maintain the economic strength and viability of the region’s businesses. Projects must focus on upskilling the IT skills of current employees.

“The local workforce board heard employers’ pleas for resources to help upskill their workers,” Antoinette Mancusi, Executive Director of Coastal Counties Workforce Inc., said. “I encourage any employer looking to improve their employee’s IT skills to apply for the TechHire grant.”

“With the state’s current tight labor market and low unemployment, employers are looking for ways to both train their workforce and remain competitive in the economy,” said Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman. “This grant is an example of how everyone can work together – business, government, and community partners – to help Maine businesses and workers thrive.”

Program Features:

  • Employer chooses the training program, training provider, and employees to be trained.
  • Not sure what training is needed? TechHire Maine can help you identify the appropriate training for your employees.
  • The grant will provide financial support to help cover the cost of the training.
